Ceremonial Graduation at the Rejtő Faculty

The Rejtő Sándor Faculty of Light Industry and Environmental Engineering at Obuda University hosted a festive graduation ceremony, a truly fitting event for the faculty’s history. Hungarian and international students who completed higher education vocational training, bachelor’s, and master’s programs received their certificates and diplomas. This year’s ceremony featured a special novelty: for the first time ever, young engineers and assistant engineers donned ceremonial gowns to receive their diplomas, adding to the occasion’s grandeur.

The ceremony began with the dean, Dr. habil. László Koltai’s speech, who emphasized the opportunities awaiting the graduates and the responsibility that comes with their acquired knowledge. Following his address, the diplomas were presented.

A significant number of fresh graduates received distinction diplomas for their outstanding academic achievements, acknowledging years of hard work and dedication. Dean Dr. habil. László Koltai personally congratulated each graduate, wishing them much success in their future careers.

After the diploma presentation, the student oath was recited. In it, the new graduates pledged their professional commitment and adherence to ethical standards. In one of the ceremony’s moving moments, a representative of the graduating class tied a commemorative ribbon onto the faculty’s flag, symbolizing their loyalty to their alma mater and their sense of belonging to the community.

The university’s senior leadership was represented by Prof. Dr. Zoltán Rajnai, Vice-Rector, who highlighted the role of Obuda University and the Rejtő Faculty in Hungarian higher education. The presidium of the ceremony included Bodáné Dr. habil. Rita Kendrovics, Vice-Dean, and Dr. habil. Edit Csanák, Vice-Dean, as well as Eszter Bartha, Head of Deans Office, who also extended their congratulations to the graduates.

On behalf of the Rejtő students, Csenge Papp, President of the Faculty Student Union, greeted the fresh graduates. In her speech, she emphasized the importance of the knowledge and experience gained during their university years, as well as the constructive power of community life, which will accompany students as they enter the world of work.

The event marked a fitting conclusion to a significant chapter in these young people’s lives and simultaneously opened a new one on their path toward professional challenges and successes.

Congratulations to all graduates!

New Event in the Hungarian-Turkish Science and Innovation Year: Marmara University Delegation Visits Rejtő Faculty

A significant event reinforcing scientific collaboration between Hungary and Turkey recently took place at the Óbuda University’s Rejtő Sándor Faculty of Light Industry and Environmental Engineering (Rejtő Faculty) as part of the Hungarian-Turkish Science and Innovation Year. A delegation from Istanbul’s Marmara University arrived in Budapest for professional round-table discussions and to consult with faculty leaders on strategic matters.

The Turkish delegation included Prof. Dr. Arif Ozcan, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Emine Arman Kandirmaz, Assist. Prof. Dr. Omer Bunyamin Zelzele, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Elif Ozen Ural and Murat Kandirmaz. During their visit, they met with Dr. habil. László Koltai, Dean of the Faculty; Prof. h.c. Dr. Csaba Horváth; Dr. Gabriella Oroszlány; Dr. habil. Edit Csanák, Scientific Vice-Dean; and Norbert Berecz, Faculty International Coordinator. They thoroughly discussed opportunities for educational, professional, and strategic cooperation.

The core of the discussions focused on initiating joint research projects, expanding student and faculty exchange programs, and deepening knowledge sharing between the two institutions. A key objective was to identify areas where the strengths of both universities could complement each other, leading to shared research achievements in the future. The talks also covered the latest challenges in printing, packaging, and light industry sectors, as well as environmental protection, and the scientific responses to these issues.

Beyond the meeting rooms, the delegation had the opportunity to tour the Rejtő Faculty’s modern laboratories. This practical demonstration allowed them to gain insight into the Faculty’s advanced infrastructure and research capabilities, with a particular focus on innovative technologies and sustainable solutions. The Turkish guests showed great interest in the ongoing projects and student work.

The delegation also met with Óbuda University students. These interactions fostered cultural and scientific knowledge exchange, creating opportunities for future student collaborations, whether through joint projects or exchange programs.

A highlight of the visit was a series of professional presentations delivered by the Turkish experts, where they shared their latest research findings and industry experiences with the Faculty’s staff and students. These friendly presentations covered a wide spectrum of topics, ranging from the newest printing technologies to environmental and IT-related issues. These presentations contributed significantly to the scientific discourse and opened new perspectives for both parties in the fields of research and development.

Following the discussions, Dr. habil. László Koltai, Dean of the Faculty, stated, “This meeting once again reinforced Hungarian-Turkish scientific relations and represents another step forward in deepening educational and innovation cooperation between the two universities. Such initiatives are crucial for building global scientific networks and finding solutions to common challenges.”

The visit of the Marmara University delegation demonstrated a mutual commitment to closer collaboration between the Hungarian and Turkish scientific communities, laying the groundwork for future shared successes in research, education, and innovation.
