Media Technology and Light Industry Institute
Head of Institute: Dr. László Koltai Ph.D.
The four research teams working within the institute are printing and media technology, paper and packaging technology, quality management, and information technology. Our institute places great emphasis on practical training. We strive to use the most modern instruments and equipment in our imaging, colorimetric, printing industry material testing, and packaging industry material testing laboratories and in our CAD, multimedia, paper manufacturing, and printing practical classrooms. The institute is supported by the printing, packaging, and paper processing industry. The leading specialists of the industry often participate in our education as visiting lecturers. We have mutually created the ESKO Competence Centre, which is a packaging design laboratory. In addition, the modern technical and technological standard is represented by the CANON Knowledge Centre and Printshop in the area of graphic communication. The task and aim of both knowledge bases are that our students get modern theoretical and up-to-date practical knowledge and thus gain a competitive advantage in the labor market in these quickly developing areas. We consider it an important activity that we are asked to organize professional advice and special training courses in packaging and printing for leading industrial companies. In recent years the institute has participated in several bilateral and international EU projects (e.g., Erasmus plus, COST E32 project).
Key research areas include new areas of implementation of digital printing; reducing the environmental effects of printing industry technologies, designing and assessing solutions that put less pressure on the environment; analyzing processes of safety printing; developing methods to determine the specific surface of cellulose and paper; examination of the transfer qualities of plastic packaging materials; developing environment based management systems, creating effective regulations and evaluations adopted to the organization.
Product Design Institute
Head of Institute: Dr. Edit Csanák DLA
The Product Design Institute is internationally recognized and competitive in fields of education, research, and innovation. The education is based on stable theoretical knowledge, which is developed into an integrated, practice-oriented acquaintance accommodating students towards a variety of jobs on the labor market. Industrial Product Design Engineering BSc program prepares creative design engineers of the future for innovative thinking based on traditional foundations, competitive technological knowledge, good problem-solving and software skills, and teamwork. Within the study program, two specializations are available: Packaging Design and Product Design (Interior-Textiles, Clothing-Accessories).
Wide range of positions that can be filled in SMEs, from technical design to product development, research, technology, marketing, management, expert-consultancy or professional editorial, and more. The study program also enables students to set up and successfully operate their own businesses.
Environmental Engineering and Natural Sciences Institute
Head of Institute: Rita Dr. Bodáné-Kendrovics Ph.D.
The Environmental Engineer training at bachelor’s degree (BSc) started in 2006 and is still headed by the Environmental Engineering and Natural Sciences Institute.
Since then, the institute has consisted of general engineering, environmental, and mathematics research groups – most of our instructors teach in a number of areas of expertise. We teach the fundamental courses to all environmental engineers, light industrial and industrial design engineers, and engineer-assistant students, and we also engage in technical management training. Courses include Nature and Landscape Protection, Environmental Protection, Environmental Operations and Technologies, Geoinformatics, Environmental Economics. We teach professional and special environmental knowledge to environmental engineering students. In the field of environmental engineering, we train students in Environmental Management Systems, Green Energy, Municipal Water Management specializations, in gradual and cooperative training. The work is supported by our electrotechnics, automation, environmental chemistry, and CAD labs.
Starting from 2010, we offer a postgraduate, special vocational training: the Municipal Wastewater Management Specialist Training.
