As part of its programme in Hungary, a delegation from Chad led by Adam Medella visited the Rejtő Faculty of Óbuda University. The visitors were welcomed by Dr. Edit Csanák DLA, Deputy Dean and Director of the Institute of Product Design. The meeting was also attended by Tamás Kersánszki, Programme Manager from the Rector’s Office.
The Faculty was delighted to welcome the guest from Chad, who was able to learn about the English language courses offered by the Faculty. The visitors showed a particular interest in the Industrial Product and Design Engineering course and the Product Design specialisation run by the Product Design Institute. Among these, the design of clothing and accessories, as well as textile and interior design, may be of interest to Chadian students.
Speaking on the visit, Adam Medella said that the development of the textile industry in Chad is expected to bring about a significant improvement in the labour market situation, with a particular focus on the development of the cottage industry in textiles, which will create jobs and livelihoods. Therefore, they see potential in training in textile production technologies and fashion product design, and there is further potential in training in designing leather decoration products and leather industry production technologies. Short courses could even be launched in this area to provide qualifications.
The delegation from Chad was very pleased to visit some of the manufacturing technology laboratories of the Product Design Institute and the pop-up exhibition set up by the TTI in the lobby.
During the visit, the possibility of supporting Chad’s adult education and labour market programmes (“50,000 jobs” programme) with a possible course-based design skills project was discussed. In addition, the possibility of linking the OEHR with popular private universities in Chad was also discussed.
Dr. Edit Csanák DLA, Vice-Dean of the Faculty, said that the Faculty is open to cooperation with Chadian institutions and is confident that further joint projects in the field of textile and fashion design education and the development of the Chadian labour market can be implemented in the future.
